Damian – “That Sunrise”
A mix from my brother circa 2001-2003 (exact date is unkown). This guy has shaped many of my musical tastes since I was a little kid. He is also at least part of the reason, be it directly or indirectly, that myself and a few of my friends started DJ’ing (thanks, bro!). Damian was an awesome drummer from an early age. He used his knowledge of drumming, rhythm, and all around music knowledge in becoming a great DJ. Immersing himself in the South Florida scene of the mid to late ’90’s formed much of his taste and style of DJ’ing. His versatility behind the decks could fit him into slot or situation. Mitch Strong (Wizzo) – Boom Skiddly Diddly
Thanks to those who follow this little, and lately, scarcely updated music blog. I want to give you my latest mix (first new one since Dec 12), but first I have some words to write. I mean, hey, this is a blog, right? Right. In December I gave up posting anything new to PhulPhunk (apologies to those who contacted me that I didn’t get back to – don’t take that shit personal). While playing a show here in KC, my hearing got really f*cked up. If you were there, you probably noticed something went wrong during my set. Concerned that something was permanently wrong, or soon would be, I gave my ears a rest. That, combined with life (school, work, board exams, then new job), caused me to pause. Then, two months ago, the other side took away one of my best friends. During my down time he constantly gave me a hard time about needing new music on PhulPhunk (“Where’s the new James Ehrman? No new Wizzo?”). Now that he’s forever gone, and knowing it’s too late, I want to give him something new to jam to. So the other day I hit record and started playing some music. This mix, unplanned and raw, is what resulted. This one is for you! Boom Skiddly Diddly. Cheers buddy.
